According to Comscore, home organizing your home and cooking have become the top screenless activities done during COVID-19.
Usually watching Youtube videos or TV shows of other people organizing is satisfying enough, but now that we’re staying home more often, many Supermoms have finally found the time to tackle their overflowing closets, pantries and junk drawers.
Get Help to Get Confident Organizing Your Home
New professional home organizer, Anna Sunderlage from A Sunny Window, is here to help you get your space sorted out if you’re not confident about organizing.
Sunderlage helps clients who are overwhelmed by the clutter in their homes and are looking for a way to make home management easier.
“We create a plan with our clients and then do all of the heavy lifting for them. We categorize items, declutter, haul off donations, install new products and create organizational systems,” she says. “The end result is a home that is relaxing, free of clutter, easier to clean and manage and is tailored to the everyday needs of the families we serve.”
Organize Your Home to Prepare for the Holidays
If you dread a deep winter cleaning before the Holidays, Sunderlage has tips to make the task easier.
Minimize and declutter your space first.
Less stuff in general makes organizing much easier. Do you have more stuff than you have storage or time to manage? Look around – where did it all come from? Do you need all those spatulas? Do the kids really ride four bikes and three scooters? Minimizing the clutter is key, and will help clear space for organized storage. It’s time to donate for the Holidays!
Don’t wait to clear out what’s left.
Sunderlage recommends getting all of your trash, recycling and donations out on the same day you declutter. “There is nothing more deflating to be stepping over, moving and resorting piles for days on end,” she says. “Finishing the decluttering process all the way through will make our homes cozier and keep the cabin fever at bay.”
Buy your new storage supplies.
When buying storage bins make sure they’re sturdy enough that they don’t sag. Measure the space you’ve cleared out and make sure to get bins that fit in your newly decluttered rooms and closets. Finally, make sure you get storage containers you like! The Water Hyacinth Storage Bins and Farmhouse Open Canvas Storage Bins from The Container Store are a couple of Sunderlage’s favorites.
